Acceptable Use Policy

Version 1.0 · Effective date: 2026.07.23

This Acceptable Use Policy (the "Policy") sets out the rules for using the SkinFactory service, an independent, fan-made virtual Counter-Strike 2 trading simulator operated by [OPERATOR NAME] ("we", "us", "our"). It supplements, and forms part of, our Terms of Service. By accessing or using the service you agree to comply with this Policy.

SkinFactory is a virtual entertainment simulator. All balances, skins, cases, trades, rewards and other in-game items are entirely virtual, have NO real-world monetary value, cannot be cashed out, and are NOT redeemable for real money or for real Steam items. SkinFactory is NOT a real skin-trading site, is NOT a gambling service, and does NOT facilitate any transaction involving real money or real-world goods.

SkinFactory is an independent fan project. It is NOT affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Valve Corporation or Steam. Counter-Strike, CS2, Steam and all related names, marks, logos and imagery are the property of their respective owners.

This document is a professional starting template. It is not finalised legal advice and must be reviewed by a qualified lawyer before it is relied upon.

1. Scope and application

This Policy applies to every user of the service, including registered account holders, and to all use of the service through any interface, including the website, any application programming interface (API), and any real-time connection.

This Policy applies alongside our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Where a term is defined in the Terms of Service, it has the same meaning in this Policy. If there is a conflict between this Policy and the Terms of Service on a matter of acceptable use, this Policy governs.

2. General principles

You must use the service only for lawful, personal, non-commercial entertainment purposes, and in a way that does not harm the service, other users, or us.

You are responsible for all activity that takes place through your account. You must keep your login credentials confidential and must not allow any other person to use your account.

  • Use the service honestly and in good faith.
  • Respect other users and their experience of the service.
  • Do not attempt to gain any advantage that the service is not designed to give you.
  • Comply with all applicable laws and with the rules set out in this Policy.

3. Prohibited technical conduct

The following technical activities are strictly prohibited. They may disrupt the service, compromise its security, or interfere with other users, and several of them may also be criminal offences under [GOVERNING LAW] and other applicable laws.

a) API abuse and automated access

You must not access or use any API, endpoint, or internal interface of the service except as expressly permitted, and you must not exceed any published or reasonable rate limits.

  • Making automated, scripted, or high-volume requests to the service outside of normal interactive use.
  • Circumventing, disabling, or interfering with rate limiting, throttling, authentication, or other access controls.
  • Using the service, its API, or its data to build, train, or supply a competing or derivative product or dataset.

b) Scraping and data harvesting

  • Scraping, crawling, spidering, indexing, or systematically downloading content, catalog data, prices, or user information from the service.
  • Extracting or aggregating data from the service by any automated means for republication, resale, or analysis without our prior written permission.
  • Bypassing any measure we use to prevent or limit access to the service or its content.

c) Reverse engineering

  • Reverse engineering, decompiling, disassembling, or otherwise attempting to derive the source code, algorithms, odds, pricing logic, or internal structure of the service.
  • Attempting to discover or reconstruct any server-side logic that determines drops, odds, prices, or rewards.
  • Modifying, adapting, or creating derivative works from the service or any part of it except as permitted by law that cannot be excluded by contract.

d) Attacks on availability and integrity

  • Denial-of-service (DoS) or distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks, flooding, or any attempt to overload, degrade, or disrupt the service or its infrastructure.
  • Introducing viruses, worms, trojans, ransomware, or any other malicious or harmful code into the service or to other users.
  • Uploading, transmitting, or linking to files or content that contain malicious code, or that are designed to damage, disable, or gain unauthorised access to any system or data.

e) Unauthorised access

  • Accessing, or attempting to access, any account, data, system, or area of the service that you are not authorised to access.
  • Probing, scanning, or testing the vulnerability of the service or any related system, or breaching or circumventing any security or authentication measure.
  • Intercepting, monitoring, or capturing data transmitted to or from the service that is not intended for you.
  • Using another user's credentials, or sharing your own credentials to enable unauthorised access.

4. Automation, bots, and scripted play

The service is intended to be used by human beings through its normal interface. Automating gameplay undermines the experience for everyone and the integrity of the simulator.

  • Using bots, macros, scripts, auto-clickers, or any automated tool to play, trade, open cases, participate in battles or jackpots, or otherwise interact with the service.
  • Creating or operating automated accounts, or accounts that are controlled other than by a genuine individual human user.
  • Simulating human input to trigger in-game actions, rewards, missions, or progression without genuine interactive play.
  • Using any tool or method to gain an unfair advantage over other users or over the mechanics of the service.

5. Exploits, bugs, and cheating

Because everything in the service is virtual and backend-authoritative, exploiting flaws to manufacture in-game value harms the fairness of the simulation for all players even though it has no real-world value.

  • Exploiting, or attempting to exploit, any bug, error, defect, loophole, or unintended behaviour in the service.
  • Continuing to benefit from a bug or error after you become aware of it, instead of reporting it to us.
  • Manipulating game state, balances, inventories, drops, odds, or rewards by any means other than normal intended play.
  • Duplicating items, balances, or rewards, or creating value that the service was not designed to grant.

6. Marketplace and economy abuse

The in-game marketplace, trading, and economy features exist for entertainment within the simulator. They must not be manipulated, and they must never be used to attempt to exchange virtual items for anything of real-world value.

  • Marketplace manipulation, including wash trading, price rigging, spoofing, coordinated pricing, or artificial inflation or deflation of in-game prices.
  • Arranging or executing fake, sham, or collusive transactions between accounts you control or coordinate.
  • Using trades, listings, gifts, or jackpots to funnel virtual value between accounts to abuse missions, achievements, leaderboards, seasons, or other rewards.
  • Attempting to sell, buy, exchange, or transfer virtual items, balances, or accounts for real money or any real-world consideration, whether on or off the service. Virtual items have no real-world value and cannot be cashed out.
  • Advertising, soliciting, or facilitating any real-money trade, cashout, or off-platform exchange of in-game items or accounts.

7. Multi-account and identity abuse

Unless we expressly permit it, you may hold only one account. Multiple accounts are commonly used to abuse rewards, referrals, leaderboards, and the in-game economy.

  • Creating, operating, or controlling multiple accounts, or registering accounts using false, stolen, or another person's identity or details.
  • Using multiple accounts to gain in-game advantage, farm rewards, distort leaderboards or seasons, or evade limits, suspensions, or bans.
  • Buying, selling, renting, sharing, or transferring accounts, or accessing an account you are not entitled to use.
  • Registering or using the service if you are under [MINIMUM AGE], or providing false information about your age or eligibility.

8. Community, chat, and content conduct

The service includes social features such as chat, messaging, profiles, showcases, companies, and uploads. You must use these responsibly and respectfully.

  • Harassing, threatening, bullying, stalking, or intimidating any other user or our staff.
  • Posting or transmitting content that is unlawful, defamatory, obscene, hateful, discriminatory, sexually explicit, or otherwise objectionable.
  • Spamming, flooding chat, sending unsolicited advertising, or posting repetitive, disruptive, or off-topic messages.
  • Impersonating any person, our staff, or any organisation, or misrepresenting your affiliation with any person or entity.
  • Sharing another person's private or personal information without their consent, or publishing content that infringes the intellectual property or other rights of any third party.
  • Uploading images, avatars, or files that contain unlawful content, malicious code, or content you do not have the right to upload.
  • Phishing, or attempting to obtain other users' credentials, personal data, or account access by deception.

9. Intellectual property and the service itself

The service, its software, design, text, graphics, and other content are protected by intellectual property rights owned by us or our licensors, except for third-party marks and imagery that remain the property of their respective owners.

  • Copying, cloning, mirroring, framing, or reproducing the service or any substantial part of it.
  • Republishing, redistributing, selling, licensing, or otherwise exploiting the service or its content without our prior written permission.
  • Using the service, its name, branding, or content for any commercial purpose without our prior written permission.
  • Removing, obscuring, or altering any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notice.

10. Security research and responsible disclosure

We welcome good-faith reports of security vulnerabilities. However, unauthorised testing is still prohibited. If you believe you have found a security issue, do not exploit it, do not access or alter data that is not yours, and do not disclose it publicly before we have had a reasonable opportunity to respond.

Please report suspected vulnerabilities promptly and privately to [CONTACT EMAIL], including enough detail for us to reproduce and assess the issue. We may agree a scope for permitted testing with you in writing in advance; without such written agreement, the prohibitions in this Policy apply in full.

11. Reporting violations

If you become aware of any conduct that violates this Policy, including cheating, exploitation, abuse, harassment, or a security concern, please report it to us at [CONTACT EMAIL] so that we can investigate.

We may ask you for additional information to help us assess a report. We are not obliged to disclose the outcome of any investigation.

12. Monitoring and enforcement

We may, but are not obliged to, monitor use of the service to detect and prevent violations of this Policy, to protect the integrity of the simulator, and to keep the service secure. Any monitoring is carried out in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable law.

Where we detect a suspected violation, we may take any action we consider appropriate and proportionate, taking into account the seriousness of the conduct, whether it is repeated, and the impact on the service and other users.

  • Issuing a warning or requesting that the conduct stop.
  • Removing, editing, or restricting access to content, listings, or messages.
  • Reversing, adjusting, or removing in-game items, balances, rewards, or progression obtained through prohibited conduct.
  • Applying rate limits, feature restrictions, or other technical measures to an account.
  • Suspending or terminating an account, or restricting or ending access to the service, in whole or in part.
  • Reporting conduct to law enforcement or other authorities where we are required to or consider it appropriate.

13. Consequences and no compensation

Because all in-game items, balances, and rewards are virtual and have no real-world monetary value, you are not entitled to any refund, payment, or compensation if we remove them or restrict or terminate your account as a result of a violation of this Policy.

Enforcement action under this Policy does not limit any other rights or remedies available to us under the Terms of Service or applicable law.

14. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the service, to our practices, or to the law. When we make material changes, we will update the version and effective date shown above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice.

Your continued use of the service after a change takes effect means that you accept the updated Policy. If you do not agree with a change, you must stop using the service.
